4 months and cute as can be

I feel like Jake went from being tiny to huge overnight.  I know he didn't, but this past week he just seemed so much bigger and older.  I can't believe how fast he's growing up!  It's been so fun to see him grow and watch him learn new things, and I know this is only the beginning.  Andrew and I feel so blessed to be his parents.  Here are some pictures with cute, funny, and serious faces.  He smiles and smiles...until the camera comes out.

He has also been babbling up a storm lately!

He no longer fits into 3-6 month pajamas and has worn 9 month ones the past few nights!  Things that don't have feet included that are 3-6 months still fit him fine.

He is always interested in his hands- he's either sucking on them, staring at them, or grabbing things with them.  It's fun to see him learn how they work!

We are loving every moment of being Jake's parents!

Jake's Big Days

These days Jake wakes up about 7 or 7:30 am, eats his first bottle, and heads to the gym with Andrew and I.  When we get back, he does his own "working out" on his little gym.  He kicks and bats at those toys like crazy.  Then he usually falls asleep.

He has really taken to moving around while he plays and sleeps.  He definitely was not facing that way when we put him on his toy gym.  The same thing seems to be true every night- we put him to bed about 9:30 pm, and he's usually in a totally different position when we check on him before going to sleep, and in yet another crazy position when we go in to get him in the morning.  Sometimes he's done a complete 360 in his crib or has his legs up on the slats or has just moved to a completely different place in his crib.  I still haven't figured out quite how he does it.

When Jake wakes up after his first nap, he gets another bottle and usually moves to his swing to play some more.  After awhile, he zonks out again.

The next few hours while I work, Jake eats bottles, plays for awhile, then falls asleep again.  By the end of the day he's usually taken about 5 good naps.  I hope he appreciates that, because someday he'll want just one short nap and it won't work for him!

It's a happy time in the Olsen home when Andrew gets home.  Our dog Kyle about loses his mind when he sees Andrew pull in and hears him coming up the stairs.  He's gotten really good at recognizing our car pulling into the parking lot and gets particularly excited with the little "honk" that comes with locking the doors.

In the evening Jake has play time with Mom and almost always gets to spend some fun time with Dad too.  He gets a bath every 2-3 days (or else his skin gets too dry) and by the end of the days has eaten 5 bottles.  He gets 6 oz every time, but always has one or two bottles that he doesn't want to finish.  He finishes his last feeding around 9:30pm and loves watching his mobile when we put him in his crib to go to sleep.  He is growing so fast and getting sweeter and cuter by the day.  We are so smitten by this little guy and enjoy so much being his parents!

Let the Drooling Begin

Jake has sure taken to drooling all over everything, and everybody lately.  I just discovered the usefulness of bibs :)

The Many Faces of Jacob Olsen

For a couple of minutes in the middle of his feeding this afternoon, I took some pictures of little Jake- he has so many facial expressions!

I sure love this sweet little guy!

O-H-I-O

Yesterday I took a vacation day (I have 2 left and I lose them if I haven't used them by the end of the month) and my parents came down for the afternoon.  We ate lunch, chit-chatted, and when Andrew got back from classes we decided to take advantage of the tours they were giving for prospective students coming into Ohio State of the football stadium.  We figured Jake might go there someday (he's a prospective student, right?).

But wow.  It's crazy huge!  It holds 105,000 people, and see that black portion of the screen on the huge monitor at the top of the first picture below?  The black section alone, where they show what's going on on the field, is as big as a basketball court!  And what's crazier is they are replacing it with a bigger one soon.

After spending some time on the filed, we got to see the press box- Andrew and my dad were in their glory.

Then we headed to a suite- it was pretty impressive!  It costs a whopping $70k a year- and that doesn't even include any food!

On our way out we said a quick "hi" to Brutus the Buckeye and considered our trip to the stadium a big success!
