Weekend fun in Idaho

We landed in Utah Friday night and were up for family pictures Saturday morning.  Jake did fairly well at the pictures, but he only wanted to look at the ground- hopefully Wendy (Andrew's sister's husband's mom- if you followed that) was able to catch him looking up at least a couple of times.  She was so sweet and the pictures were fun.

Immediately after family pictures, we went to see Morgan and Braden's house and then headed up to Irwin, ID to Andrew's Uncle Alan and Aunt Julie's cabin.  You can hardly call this place a cabin, however, it's more of a mansion.  We had a great time there hanging out as a family, catching up, playing with Jake, eating, watching movies, playing games, and more of playing with Jake and eating.

We took about a million pictures, so beware.  This is a post of many pictures...

Jake had a ton of fun playing with all the new family members he just met and seeing his Grandma and Grandpa Olsen again.

Jake likes to be held, but he also loves his own time and to be left alone sometimes.  His grandma and grandpa got him a little mat with toys that he enjoyed quite a bit.  Uncle Tanner also seemed to enjoy it...

The first couple of days we were there, it was pretty cold.  But Monday afternoon was beautiful, so we had a picnic lunch outside and Jake played in the grass for the first time.

Jake LOVED playing "blast off" with Uncle Tanner.  Tanner would stand him on the floor and count to 3 and toss him into the air- a lot higher than he is used to since Tanner is 6'7.  He would laugh and laugh, and so would we watching.  It was really cute.

Another highlight for Andrew's family was feeding Jake.  He was so covered in carrots that he needed a bath one evening.  Mom and dad aren't too good at giving him a "shower" in the sink.  Usually he's pretty tolerant, but we made him cry...

Monday afternoon we also took a trip to the Palicades Dam and the Dam Store.

My dad grew up about 20 miles from there and called it his "stomping ground."  We made sure Jake was able to "stomp" there as well.

From there we went on a drive around the area and saw a beautiful waterfall and enjoyed the beauty of Idaho.  I really enjoyed knowing it was so close to where my dad grew up.

There were beautiful sunsets, and the stars were breathtaking.  I love being in the middle of nowhere and seeing the night sky.  That was definitely a highlight for me.

After a fun trip came a long car ride, and poor Jake is sick of car rides by now it seems.  He sat in the back of his family's SUV with Andrew's mom, his sister Maddie, and the family dog.  They entertained him, and he loved his first taste of pretzels!

It was a great trip and we had a lot of fun spending time together as a family!
