Yesterday I took my first sick day in over a year. It's one thing for me to suck it up and work when I'm sick, especially because I work from home, but it's another thing to be sick AND have a sick baby.
My poor little guy has his first cold, and it's so sad! I wish I could teach him how to blow his nose, because he HATES the nasal aspirator/bugger sucker. He sees that thing coming and screams. I feel so bad cleaning out his nose, but otherwise he can't breathe, especially when he is eating.
He has been so, so cuddly, though. He seems pretty happy as long as Andrew or I are holding him. Yesterday I was feeling miserable in the shower (just icky from having a cold), and got out to Andrew rushing to finish getting ready for school and Jake screaming because he wasn't being held. I knew work was not going to go well as I stood in the bathroom, wrapped in my towel, dripping wet and holding my poor, snotty, sad little man. We get two sick days a year at Myler Disability, which expire based on your hire date. Mine run out at the end of the month, so I guess it was nice to use at least one of them.
Once Jake calmed down, I got dressed (in sweat pants and Andrew's shirt), texted my boss to let her know I'd make up the work on Saturday, and snuggled with my little man all day- Andrew got home around 5 and we were both still in our pajamas surrounded by tissues, but happy to have enjoyed our sick day together.

Happy Easter!
Fist time holidays for babies are so fun! Jake definitely enjoyed his first Easter, and Andrew enjoyed being parents on Easter for the first time as well. Andrew's family helped Jake celebrate his first Easter with a cute chalk design, and my mom helped us make our apartment more festive with some peep garland she made.
We stayed at my parents house Saturday night and Sunday my mom woke up and did Jake's early feeding so Andrew and I could sleep in- that was a great Easter gift!
When Andrew and I finally got up, we helped Jake find his Easter Basket.
Andrew and I watched an Easter video about the Savior and tried to explain to Jake why we celebrate Easter. We are so fortunate that God sent His Son and that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins that we might be forgiven when we make mistakes. What a great and terrible day when He died, but what a magnificent day when He burst the bands of death and rose again!! Easter really is one of the best holidays, and I hope that as Jake grows up he'll know the real reason for Easter, and that he will have a strong testimony that his Savior lives!
We took Jake to church in my family's ward and enjoyed the inspirational talks and music.
After church we went to my grandparents house for the afternoon and evening. Jake had a lot of fun with my beautiful cousins Grace and Paige.
He also enjoyed seeing my aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents.
As the day went on, Jake kept losing layers of clothes- he has started to drool like crazy! He also gets warm really easily.
We loved our first Easter as a family of 3!

Life as a 3 month old
Jake is such a great baby. He rarely cries, loves playing by himself, and sleeps like a champ. It has really worked out perfectly for us, as I have been able to take care of him while still working from home. What a blessing!
He is growing way too fast! Just tonight I was looking at him thinking how much he has grown so quickly. It's all flying by and I don't want to miss a moment!
As of late Jake has enjoyed going on walks with Andrew, Kyle (the dog), and me. Actually I'm not entirely sure what he thinks about walks. He never cries or fusses, but he gets EXTREMELY serious. It's nearly impossible to get a smile out of him. He's clearly taking in lots of new sights and sounds. He has enjoyed his sunglasses, though :)
I am so lucky because Andrew can do a lot of his studying at home. He's usually gone from about 10am until around 3-4pm. I typically feed Jake and work as much as possible during that time, so it's not too bad, but I sure love having Andrew home as well. Jake enjoys sleeping next to his studying daddy.
Jake not only enjoys sleeping next to Andrew, but anywhere. He takes about six 45 minute naps throughout the day, always in different places.
Jake has also taken to modeling for pictures. I guess that could be a sign that I take too many :)
But seeing how different he looks now than he did 3 months ago, I can't stop taking pictures. I always want to remember exactly how he was and all his cute little outfits, funny faces, and gummy grins. I absolutely adore this little boy!

Jake Loves His Grandmas!
This past week Jake has been spoiled by his grandmas!
My mom is on Spring Break (she works for the schools) and decided to spend the week with us! She came down Monday morning and stayed through today (Thursday afternoon) and took great care of me, Andrew, and especially Jake. She fed Jake at almost every feeding, played with him, washed our dishes, and (our favorite) made us a great dinner every night. We had a lot of fun together chatting and shopping- we always love when she comes!
Jake was also spoiled by his Grandma Olsen this week- she sent him a great Easter package! It included a fun stuffed animal, a BYU outfit, lots of cute onesies, socks, pajamas, toothbrushes, 2 adorable books, and lots of yummy candy. Thanks Grandma!!
Jake's favorite is the onesie that says "I have the bestest grandma in the whole world." He really does- times two! What a lucky little boy!

Little Jake is 3 Months!
I can't believe my little baby is already 3 months old! And what I really can't believe is how fast he is growing and learning things. He is starting to notice a lot more than he used to and loves looking around. I had no idea he would already be able to imitate faces we make, and he's starting to make noises that sound more and more like talking. I was singing to him earlier today and he started cooing like what I was singing. It blew me away. I had no idea how smart he would be so fast!
Jake is sleeping through the night like a champ! I figured out that he has to eat at least 25 oz of formula during the day, and then he's good for the night. We offer him 5 oz a feeding 6 times a day- 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, and 10pm. He plays and takes naps between each feeding and is so much fun to be around! He is the world's slowest eater, though. It takes him a full hour to eat each time (making a whopping 6 hours of feeding time every day...). Sometimes I have to stop feeding him before he's done because the formula is only good for an hour after they start drinking. During those hours I talk to him, tell him about anything and everything, read to him, and sing to him. It is a long time, but I enjoy just watching him and taking in every moment.
His smile melts my heart, and he is starting to smile so easily! Even when Andrew or I just walk into the room he lights up and gives us a huge, heart-warming grin.
His favorite thing to do these days is play on his little gym. We tell him he's working out, and he seems to take that seriously. You should see him kick at the piano keys and punch at the toys. He's figuring out how to grab onto them as of late and seems to be enjoying that.
His least favorite thing is tummy time. He doesn't seem to get it, and instead of lifting up his head and strengthening his muscles, he lifts up his bum, pushes his legs, and scoots forward. Tummy time always comes with crying and spitting up everywhere. Poor kid!
This past week Jake and I LOVED having Andrew home for spring break. They spent a lot of time together. It's easy to see that Jake adores his dad as much as Andrew adores him.
Here are an abundance of pictures for his grandparents and our family who don't get to see him too often. Yes, he's the cutest little boy in the world :) Andrew and I seriously ADORE him!
